Plastic Surgery Consultations: Everything You Always Wanted to Know
The Plastic Surgery Consultation Process
Have you been thinking about having plastic surgery for years and now is finally the time? Is your aging appearance in the mirror starting to really bother you? Maybe you have recently reached your goal weight and you want to get rid of your sagging skin.
There comes a point when you finally think NOW is time to proceed with plastic surgery. This is a big step and you’re probably wondering what your consultation will involve. It’s common to have some hesitation and a little anxiety when it comes to setting up a cosmetic surgery appointment; after all, this is not your everyday type of doctor’s appointment that you go to. At Devlin Cosmetic Surgery we understand this and above all want you to feel as comfortable as possible. One way we believe alleviates some fear is through education. So let us explain what will take place at your consultation.
The consultation is all about you – it is informative and even fun! The goal of the consultation is to find out what can be done, and how, for the problem that bothers you. At your consultation you will be introduced to the main team members who will be involved in your care: patient care coordinator: Rebecca, your primary nurse: Lesli, and the surgery scheduler: Christy. Everyone will be prepared for your appointment and are generally happy to meet you. Here are a few of the most common questions regarding consultations with Dr. Devlin:
Is There A Fee For A Consultation
We charge a minimal fee for your consultation and that fee will be applied to you surgery fee if you decide to have the procedure performed.. We don’t want you to feel pressured to have surgery We view the initial consultation as a time to meet us, get to know Dr. Devlin, and learn more about the surgery process. We have tailored our consultation process to allow enough time for you to ask all of your questions and allow you time to make an informed decision about having your procedure with us. However, there may be times where a $50.00 no show fee applies.
How Long Does A Plastic Surgery Consultation Take ?
This depends on a few things, such as the procedures you’re interested in. On average, our consultations take about 1-1.5 hours. For a breast augmentation consult, you can expect it to take approximate 2 hours. This is to allow time to “try on” your desired size (which is the fun part). We want you to ask questions and we allow you time to do this so that you will not feel rushed. Again, it’s all about you feeling comfortable.
In addition to answering your questions about cosmetic procedures, you should be allowed enough time to discuss the following:
Financing and payment options. This will include a detailed quote for the cost of cosmetic surgery, including all fees associated with the surgery
Your surgery time frame. You should feel confident that you will be able to schedule surgery within your personal time frame. It’s typical for our office to offer you multiple dates to choose from.
Will I Have To Take My Clothes Off ?
If you are consulting about a breast or body procedure, the answer is yes. We understand that this may be uncomfortable for you and every attempt will be made to ensure that you remain comfortable during the exam.
Will Photos Be Taken ?
This is one of the most common questions we get and the simple answer is yes. Your photos are a part of your medical records. Rest assured at Devlin Cosmetic Surgery we will never share your photos with anyone or post them on any website without your written consent. When you decide to move forward with your surgery, you will come back to our office for a pre-operative appointment, this will again most likely include a “before” photo session.
Remember the bulk of your consultation will be spent with us listening to you and your goals for cosmetic surgery. You will find that Dr. Devlin is compassionate, shows sincere interest and will clearly explain all of your options for surgery and what you can realistically achieve. We strive to make this an enjoyable experience for you. We will have a common goal: helping you look and feel better.
