Brow Lift vs. Full Facelift
A full facelift and brow lift are cosmetic procedures designed to enhance the appearance of the face. However, they target different areas and address different concerns. At Devlin Cosmetic Surgery, serving Little Rock, AR, Conway, AR, and Hot Springs, AR, Dr. Michael Devlin can discuss the brow lift vs. full facelift procedures and determine which option is most appropriate for your needs.
Candidates
Brow Lift
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that is designed to raise and reshape the eyebrows and forehead. It is typically performed on individuals who have a drooping or sagging brow line, or deep forehead wrinkles.
Facelift
A full facelift is a more extensive surgical procedure that targets the lower two-thirds of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, and neck. It is typically performed on individuals who have significant signs of aging, such as deep wrinkles, sagging skin, and jowls.
The Procedure
Brow Lift
The brow lift procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. The surgery usually takes one to two hours to complete.
During the procedure, Dr. Devlin will make small incisions in the scalp, typically hidden within the hairline, to access the underlying tissue and muscles. He will then lift and reposition the skin and underlying muscles to reduce wrinkles and lift the brows, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Excess skin may be removed to achieve the desired result.
Facelift
The facelift procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. The surgery usually takes two to four hours to complete.
During a facelift, Dr. Devlin will make incisions around the hairline and behind the ears to access the underlying tissues and muscles. He will lift and reposition the muscles and tissues to create a more youthful appearance, and remove excess skin as needed. With this procedure, Dr. Devlin can lift the jowls and cheek, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
Recovery After Brow Lift and Facelift Surgery
The recovery period following a brow lift or facelift is similar. While side effects vary depending on the individual and the extent of the procedure, most patients can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort for several days. It is important to follow the post-operative instructions provided by the surgeon, including avoiding strenuous activity and keeping the head elevated to reduce swelling.
How Long Do Results Last?
The length of brow lift and facelift results can vary depending on several factors, including the patient's age, skin quality, and lifestyle habits. However, in general, the results of a brow lift or facelift can last for a decade or more if patients maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Can I Undergo Both Treatments?
Many patients choose to combine these procedures to achieve a more comprehensive rejuvenation of the face and forehead.
