Breast lift surgery removes excess skin and tightens the remaining breast tissue. This procedure is a great way to alter the breasts and raise them into a perkier, more youthful position.

Many of our Little Rock, AR, Conway, AR, and Hot Springs, AR, patients report feeling more confident and more confident about their bodies after undergoing a breast lift, but you may be wondering how long the results last.

Explore how long a breast lift lasts and factors that may shorten or prolong your results with the team at Devlin Cosmetic Surgery: Michael Devlin, M.D.

How Long a Breast Lift Lasts

Though a breast lift is a long-lasting solution to sagging breasts, the results of the procedure are not permanent. Breast lift results typically last about 10 to 15 years until the natural effects of aging and gravity change their appearance again.

At this point, patients who are still self-conscious about sagging breasts, asymmetry, or large areolas, and are healthy enough to undergo surgery can receive a breast lift revision surgery.

Factors That Affect Breast Lift Results

Though results last for 10 to 15 years for the average patient, some factors can affect the lifespan of your results, such as:

Wearing a Support Garment

After your breast lift, wearing a support garment for 24 hours a day for the next two to three weeks or as instructed by Dr. Devlin can help your breasts form to their new contours and maximize your results. It can also alleviate swelling and help your incisions heal correctly.

Getting Pregnant

If you become pregnant, your breasts will change. For the best possible results, patients should finish having children before they undergo a breast lift. After you’ve finished building your family, you’ll likely be a better candidate for cosmetic surgery.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding can cause your breasts to change significantly, often resulting in a saggy and deflated appearance. Even if you've had a breast lift in the past, breastfeeding can affect your results. Our cosmetic surgeon recommends that patients finish breastfeeding before undergoing a breast lift.

Weight Fluctuations

Gaining weight can add volume to your breasts, and losing weight can make your breasts look saggy and deflated. Because of this, we recommend that patients be at a healthy weight that they can maintain before scheduling their breast lift.

Receiving Breast Implants

Patients can receive breast implants at the same time as their breast lift. Breast implants add volume to the breasts and can result in a more natural-looking appearance, but implants have to be replaced periodically. Your implants can last 10 to 20 years until they have to be changed or removed.

Prolonging the Results of Your Breast Lift

While the natural aging process and gravity will change how your breasts look over time, there are a few things you can do to prolong your breast lift results, such as:
