Benefits of a Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a non-invasive way to improve the appearance of dull, lackluster skin. In addition, this treatment:

  • Is performed in-office
  • Removes dead skin
  • Improves skin texture
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightens skin
  • Improves uneven pigmentation

To determine if you qualify for treatment. Dr. Devlin can perform a thorough examination and evaluate your unique cosmetic goals.

Understanding the Procedure

In Arkansas, chemical peels can come in three levels: light, medium, and deep. Recovery time depends on the intensity and depth of the peel. Dr. Devlin may recommend a mid to deep peel with a 35 percent TCA (trichloroacetic acid), in combination with oral sedation.

Before beginning your chemical peel treatment, we will thoroughly clean your face and remove any dirt or makeup. We can then carefully apply the solution onto the surface of your face, neck, and décolletage. The treatment time will depend upon the level of the peel. A mid to deep peel usually takes less than 30 minutes to perform.

The Recovery Process

Over the course of recovery, the topmost layers of your skin will begin to peel and slough off, revealing fresh supple skin beneath. The extent of your recovery process will vary depending upon the type of chemical peel you receive.

Most patients who undergo a light chemical peel can expect little to no downtime. In the case of medium peels, patients may experience minor swelling and redness. However, this should dissipate within a few days of your procedure. For deeper peels, recovery can take several days to two weeks.

Chemical peels can come in three levels: light, medium, and deep. Recovery time depends on the intensity and depth of the peel.

During the healing process, you should avoid wearing makeup and participating in strenuous activities. It is also vital to wear sunscreen with at least 30 SPF to avoid hyperpigmentation and sun damage. To help you achieve a smooth recovery, our team can provide you with detailed instructions.
