Description
Dr. Devlin takes a comprehensive approach to tummy tuck procedures, accounting for the patient's BMI as well as their goals for treatment. The tummy tuck can benefit patients who have achieved a comfortable weight - it is not a weight loss procedure. Dr. Devlin says he pays extra attention to the appearance of the belly button as part of this treatment, given that so many tummy tuck patients have scarring and unshapely features in this area.

My approach to tummy tucks is pretty comprehensive. We take into account the patient's body mass index, what their actual goals are from surgery. Everybody has a little bit different idea of what they would like accomplished with a tummy tuck.
A lot of people think that tummy tuck is a weight loss procedure, when it really isn't. So it's best to have the patient at their ideal body weight or at least the weight that they're going to be. Some people will never lose as much weight as they want to, but as long as they can get down to their goal weight then that gives us something to work with.
I would say probably the trademark of my tummy tucks that sets me apart from other surgeons in the area is the bellybutton. I put a lot of importance on the way the bellybutton looks to make it look natural because one of the telltale signs that somebody's had surgery, especially a tummy tuck, you'll see women out there in a bathing suit and you can spot them right away just by looking at their bellybutton. With the way I approach my bellybuttons, it's a more natural look. A lot of times, it's very hard to even see that you've even had any surgery done.
